“The thing that makes this specific story so enduring is that it’s a tale of redemption,” Barakiva noted. “Scrooge’s journey is so profoundly moving — he starts the play as a very unhappy husk of a man, and by the end of the play we are absolutely convinced that he has seen the error of his ways and is transformed. The breadth of that journey is so profound and hopeful, that it makes it really clear why the story has endured for more than 170 years.”
