The Corning-Painted Post Historical Society is excited to announce a series of free lectures which will begin on October 10. Our first program is “Recent Weather Events affecting New York State: A Forecaster’s Nightmare”, by Mark W. Wysocki, professor and senior lecturer in meteorology at Cornell University (College of Agriculture and Life Sciences [CALS], Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences). He is responsible for classroom instruction for science majors and serves as the Director of Undergraduate Studies in Atmospheric Science and is the State Climatologist for New York State.

The program is about the impact of recent weather events (heat waves, flooding, snowstorms) on agriculture, infrastructure, health, economy, etc., across the Southern Tier region of NY. Mark will also discuss the region's weather history and how it shaped the development of our industry, agriculture and population growth.

Please join us in the Academy Place Apartments Auditorium, 11 W. Third Street, Corning NY, on October 10 at 7:00pm. The program will be followed by a Q&A session and light refreshments. For questions please call the Society at 607-937-5281.
