Join us for a spectacular evening of music as the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes presents “A Grand Gershwin Celebration.” Showcasing three American composers, this concert promises to captivate as it begins with local composer Robert Dusek’s energetic and powerful Leviathan followed by Nkeiru Okoye’s poignant Voices Shouting Out which was written as a response to the 9-11 tragedy, calling for national optimism in the midst of profound challenges. Finally, two masterful works by George Gershwin will take center stage in this unforgettable performance.
As we commemorate the 100th anniversary of George Gershwin’s iconic masterpiece, Rhapsody in Blue, the audience will be transported to the dazzling streets of 1920s New York City, where jazz and classical music harmoniously collide. Accompanied by the virtuosic pianist Bryan Pezzone (LA recording and performing artist), this rendition guarantees to offer an unforgettable experience.
On the second half of the concert, we invite you to revel in the timeless beauty of Porgy and Bess – A Concert of Songs by George Gershwin, performed by soprano Dimery Alexis and baritone Fredd Redd.
