Finger Lakes Events Calendar

Festivals, Happy Hour, Live Music, Theatre, and More!

It doesn’t matter what your interests are or who you’re in the Finger Lakes with, you can always find a great event to enrich your time in the region with those you care about.

Events take place all year round in the Finger Lakes region. From lakeside (and on the lake) events in the summer to harvest activities in the fall, snowmobiling or snowshoeing in the winter, and festivals in the springtime! Step inside a glassmaker’s studio to blow your own glass, stroll Main Street on a food tour, or gather for live music and theater performances. Browse the list of Finger Lakes events below or search the specific dates you will be visiting to see everything going on in the region.

Great Events that Happen Every Year

Below, you will find dozens of great events happening throughout the year with many of them happening annually. If you have memories of favorite annual Finger Lakes events from childhood such as cardboard boat regattas, hot air balloon festivals, cheese, apple or pumpkin festivals, to name a few, it’s likely that event that still takes place or, has likely improved your enjoyment. If you see a special event that piques your interest but can’t make it, click on the event anyway, it might be coming back next year!

Events Added Daily

Make sure to check back frequently to see if any other great events have been added. Events are added daily by businesses from every sector and interest so if there is nothing that sparks your interest now, there very well could be soon!

Holiday Ornament Tree
Holiday Ornament Tree

In 2008, the first annual Holiday Ornament Tree showcased more than 600 ornaments handmade by our Hot Glass Team. The tree was eight feet tall and four feet in diameter at the bottom. The next year, the tree grew to 14 feet tall, with more than 2,000 glass ornaments made by Museum glassmakers.

The Museum's glittering ornament tree has now become a holiday tradition—the perfect background for an annual holiday photo. The tree is joined by other wonders in glass, including a holiday feast made entirely of glass as well as a life-sized glass snowperson family, the Tree of Life MenorahAdvent Wreath, and Kwanzaa Setting

You can’t buy the ornaments on these trees, but you can Make Your Own Glass Ornament, year-round, at The Studio.

A tour of Ithaca Falls
Ithaca Falls Unveiled

Ithaca Falls is one of the most spectacular scenic wonders of New York’s Finger Lakes region. Fall Creek, which carries the waters of Cayuga Lake’s largest sub-watershed, roars over the falls in a little city park just a minute’s walk from city streets. Though countless thousands have stood in awe of this grand cataract, few have known the story behind its major role in the 19th century industrial history of Ithaca, nor the role Ezra Cornell played in that story before he founded Cornell University. That story is now available to all in the form of outdoor interpretive exhibits installed at the park at the entrance to the gorge in 2018.
In this encore episode (#194) of Walk in the Park, officials from the City of Ithaca, Tompkins County Legislature, the Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce, Cornell Botanic Gardens, and others gathered to dedicate and celebrate the installation of new interpretive signs in the park.

(The speeches begin at 4:15 in the timeline and mostly end with a ribbon cutting at 13:16, in case you want to scrub through them.)

Join us on a walk up along Fall Creek below and above Ithaca Falls while Todd Bittner, Director of Cornell Botanic Gardens Natural Areas, shows us Ezra’s tunnel by the Falls and reveals the role of Ithaca Falls in Ithaca’s 19th century growth, prosperity, and connection to the world.

Walk in the Park is a non-commercial public access cable television series seen on Ithaca area channel 13. It is produced by Tony Ingraham, Owl Gorge Productions, a Finger Lakes Tourism Alliance partner.
