1922 Starkey House Planning 95th Anniversary

Sep 08th, 2016

Owner and Host Cathy Moskal is planning a "95th Year Birthday Celebration at the Starkey House" to be held next late spring or early summer on the grounds of 1922 Starkey House Bed & Breakfast.

The house is an Arts & Crafts period building and was built by artisans in 1922. It was built as a residence for C. Raymond Brewer to accommodate his family and act as a base for his businesses. It was known as the Brewer House for many years and then was owned by two others until Ms. Moskal bought it as a residence in 1999. Ms. Moskal created the bed and breakfast concept at the house in 2011, which has become a great place for visitors from all over the world to stay.

The location is just feet from where the passenger train that boarded and dropped of passengers stopped at the famous Starkey Station built in the later 1800's. The local area is rich with Starkey Township history that tells about original settlers of this part of the Finger Lakes region.

The only building left standing is the horse barn now owned by Catherine Moskal, owner of the Starkey House, which will be restored and re-purposed over the next year or two.

Guests just love the original Chestnut woodwork and stained glass windows. French doors are in the main hallway and two levels of wrap around porches allow visitors to sit out to take in Seneca lake views and breezes.

The celebration will be on a weekend. There will be music provided by local musicians. Handmade arts and crafts, and foods will be available for view, taste and purchase under tents around the property. We will be sourcing those who are hobby collectors of cars and other vehicles manufactured during the 1920's, 30's and 40's or later to display or possibly give rides to visitors.

More information will be provided as we plan throughout the winter for this fun time. For more information about the house, event, or to participate with your artisan art, craft, or music please e-mail cathy@1922starkeyhouse.com or call 607-243-7770.
