2020 Finger Lakes Trail Conference Cross County Hike Series Postponed

Apr 16th, 2020

Dear Friends of the Finger Lakes Trail,

Due to health and safety concerns amid the world-wide COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our 2020 Cross County Hike Series in Cortland County to 2021.

The Series was scheduled to begin Saturday, April 18. Last month, we announced our decision to postpone the first hike in the series, but hoped to offer the remaining hikes as scheduled. It has become increasingly clear, however, that it will not be prudent or responsible to encourage any group activities for at least the next several months.

Our first concern must be for the health and safety of our participants, and also for our hike leaders and other volunteers. We are also concerned with providing a good hiking experience to all of our participants through the Series. With all of this in mind, we must postpone the Cortland County Hike Series to 2021.

Those of you who have already registered have the option of deferring your registration to one of the next two years: 2021 in Cortland County or 2022 in Tompkins County. Complete details about the 2021 County Hike Series will be announced in early 2021. Please contact Debbie Hunt, FLTC's Office Manager, via email with questions and further information about deferring your 2020 registration: debbieh@fingerlakestrail.org.

While we have made many changes to our schedule for group hikes and activities, we continue to encourage safe and responsible use of the Finger Lakes Trail, following the guidelines in the COVID-19 FAQ document on our website.

Thank you for your understanding in this difficult time. We hope you are staying safe and well.

Sincerely,

Quinn Wright, Executive Director & Peg Fuller, VP of Programs
