ANTIQUE CLOCKS/WATCHES RETURN TO THE SALT CITY

Jul 26th, 2017

48th Annual Eastern States Regional

The National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors (NAWCC) 48th Annual Eastern States Regional is returning to Syracuse. Thousands of antique and vintage clocks, watches, repair tools and horological items will be on display.

Date: Friday, August 4th and Saturday, August 5th

Location: Holiday Inn in Syracuse, NY (441 Electronics Parkway, Liverpool, NY)

Registration: Registration is from 8 AM to 5 PM on Friday, and from 8 AM to 1 PM on Saturday. Three-month NAWCC memberships are available for the public and discounted three-month memberships are available to students. Registration information and a listing of specific events can be found at nawccesr.com. Open to the public.

The MART starts on Friday and provides an outstanding opportunity to buy and sell horological items, build your collection, acquire books or obtain tools and parts for repairs. Additionally, Friday evening features an Auction, which will be open to the public. On Saturday, bring your watch or clock to hands-on workshops and have it assessed for its provenance and overall condition, and learn about repair techniques.

Many of the workshops will focus on repairs that can be performed with limited horological experience and common tools. So bring that family heirloom that’s been sitting on your mantel or hanging on your wall and learn more about it, or better yet, learn how to repair the movement, dial or case.

The Special Exhibit titled Treasures of The American Clock and Watch Museum starts Friday and will feature outstanding watches and clocks from the Museum’s collection of over 5,500 items selected to highlight the history of American watch and clock making. The exhibit is open from 10 AM to 5 PM on Friday and on Saturday from 9 AM to 1 PM, with a presentation by Tom Manning on Friday at 1 PM.

Saturdays’ speakers include John Grow, of Prestige Evaluation, who is giving an entertaining presentation on clock and watch appraisals, and Andy Dervan, of Pointe Clock Appraisal, who will give a presentation titled 19th Century American Clock Making; Craft to Mass Production.

ESR offers an outstanding opportunity for learning, networking, adding to your collection and meeting your repair or tooling needs regardless of your horological interests.
