Auburn Museum’s STEAMLab Returns with Soft Drink Making Activity

May 31st, 2022

STEAMLab is back at the Cayuga Museum of History and Art. STEAMLab is a program that allows visitors to explore the interconnection of history, science, and the arts and is exclusively hosted at the Museum on First Fridays! You can learn more about this program at cayugamuseum.org/first-fridays/
Did you know that “soft drinks” were made popular in America by local people such as Harriet Tubman and Emily Howland? These women and many others in Cayuga County were part of the Temperance movement which sought to eliminate alcohol from public life. One of the solutions was to make soda more popular. Come to the Cayuga Museum on June 6 and make your own soft drinks at the upcoming STEAMLab.
Visitors of all ages are encouraged to participate. Activities will be held onsite from 5-8PM; admission to the museum and this event is free during this time. The Cayuga Museum is located at 203 Genesee St. in Auburn, NY. Parking is available in front of the Museum on Genesee St., or in the lot behind the Museum just off of Orchard St (you will need to walk from the lot around to the front of the Museum to gain access). If you have any questions, please reach out to Geoff Starks at geoffrey@cayugamuseum.org or 315-253-8051.
The June STEAMLab is made possible with support from Wegmans.
