Apr 17th, 2015

Canandaigua, NY - Bristol Mountain will conclude the 2014-15 season with 139 days of stellar conditions and many milestones. The snowmaking team got off to an early start with super cold temperatures in November which enabled us to open on November 20 and have a long season ending on April 5th and reopening the weekend of April 11th-12th for a bonus weekend. With the addition of new snowguns on Upper Rocket the Mountain Operations team was able to open Rocket Run earlier than anticipated. The rest of the core trails opened soon after. This year Bristol Mountain saw increased numbers in the 10 week Brigades sessions as evidenced by the many kids seen on Saturdays from January until the end of February.

"We were so excited to see the success our Morgan Schild, named Rookie of the Year for the US Ski Team plus brought home trophies to show for her effort for her first season on the US Ski Team. Jon Lillis and Dylan Walcyzk also had fantastic showings this season on the US Ski Team Freestyle circuit. Harrison Smith, captured the gold in the FIS Junior World Ski Championships in Valmalenco, Italy. The icing on the cake was having Bristol Mountain Freestyle Coach John Kroetz named as Freestyle Coach of the Year in the Northeast", states, Marketing Director, Drew Broderick. Five youth from the Bristol Mountain Freestyle Snowboard team competed at Nationals in Copper Mountain in March. For many it was their first time competing at National. We are proud they qualified for Nationals. The Bristol Mountain Race Club and local Nordic teams also have very successful seasons in part due to the great conditions all season long.

"To encourage first time skiers, ages 18 and older to embrace, the winter lifestyle by learning to ski, Bristol Mountain and Elan skis partnered on the VIP Gold Learn to Ski Program. This was a four time program which include a day one five hour, small group lesson, which included lunch with the group and the instructor. During the remain three non-consecutive days, the guest could take as many lessons that were offered during each of those days. On the final day the guest is awarded a brand new pair of Elan skis, that were custom designed specifically for this program and the design includes the Bristol Mountain logo on the tip of the skis. This program was so popular that 85 guest received a new pair of skis this season and a special rate on a season pass if they choose to purchase one after they graduated from the program. Due to the success of this program, we will begin taking reservations in the fall for next seasons classes", exclaims, Broderick.

Alpine Master Skier for the International Ski Federation, Pepi Neubauer, ended his season bringing home four gold medals to top of his great season. When not competing in ski races around the world, Neubauer, skis at Bristol Mountain and is the resident Ski Pro.

Eleven Bristol Mountain ski patrollers passed their NSP Senior Ski and Toboggan test held on our mountain. The test was administered by the Genesee Valley Region of the NSP and requires a higher level of ability in general skiing and handling of unloaded and loaded toboggans. The test culminated over 2 months of clinics (twice a week) attended by these patrollers to improve their skills.

In addition, two Bristol Mountain ski patrollers, Martha McIntyre and Mark Bowker, attained NSP Senior Alpine Patroller status this season. This required them to pass both Sr. Ski and Toboggan as well as Sr. Outdoor Emergency Care courses. Sr. Outdoor Emergency Care requires the demonstration of skills in handling more complex scenarios involving multiple patients, multiple injuries, etc.
