BRISTOL VALLEY THEATER OPENS SUMMER SEASON WITH TONY AWARD-WINNING MUSICAL, AVENUE Q

Jun 14th, 2016

Bristol Valley Theater, the Finger Lakes' award-winning live professional theater, will open its Summer Season with the Tony Award winning musical Avenue Q.

With music and lyrics by Jeff Marx and Frozen composer Robert Lopez, Avenue Q is peopled by both live actors and puppets. The book by Jeff Whitty introduces audiences to a world which is aptly described as an “R-rated Sesame Streetâ€Â. Featuring tunes such as “The Internet is for Pornâ€Â and “Everyone's a Little Bit Racistâ€Â, the wit and hilarity of this ground breaking musical earned it the Tony Awards for Best Score, Best Book, and Best Musical. The BVT production is sponsored by Canandaigua National Bank and Reservoir Creek Golf Course.

“It's kind of like if Cookie Monster showed up to teach you the life lessons you need as an adult,â€Â says Bristol Valley Theater Executive/Artistic Director Karin Bowersock, “But don't let our fuzzy friends fool you. This show is definitely for adults only.â€Â

Performances run from June 16 – 26 at the theater at 151 S. Main Street in Naples. Performance times are June 16-18 at 8pm, June 19 at 2pm, June 22-23 at 2pm, June 23-25 at 8pm and June 26 at 2pm. Ticket prices are $33 for adults, $31 for seniors, and $26 for groups of 15 or more. For reservations and further information, call the box office at 585 374-6318 or visit www.bvtnaples.org.

Ben Viertel directs Avenue Q which features Adam Corcoran, Leigh Martha Klinger, Michael Motkowski, Remina Nishida, Claire Noonen, Kurt Perry, Brandi Porter, Michael Radi, and Liz Wasser. J. Elliot Yates will serve as Musical Director. Puppet design is by Joel Gennari. Scenic designer G. Warren Stiles, costume designer Elizabeth Porter, lighting designer Paul Hudson and sound designer Andrew Stroud round out the creative team.

Actor Michael Radi adds, “Avenue Q has an ability to make you care about the lives and struggles of some pretty zany characters. It's amazing how much these puppets can connect to audiences and actors alike!â€Â

The Bristol Valley Theater 2016 season continues through September 4 with Shooting Star, Peter and the Starcatcher, The Foreigner, The Cookie Fight and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

The season is sponsored by Constellation Brands with additional support from the New York State
