Call for Contributions to Music in the Key of Geneva Youth Zine

Oct 19th, 2016

The Geneva Historical Society invites all Geneva students in grades 4 through 12 to submit pieces for inclusion in a Youth Zine, to accompany the Historical Society's Music in the Key of Geneva exhibit and research project. This is a project to collect and share stories about music from Genevans of all ages and backgrounds. The zine will be a black and white booklet of select works to be distributed around the city in early December.

Students are invited to submit pieces that consider music played by Genevans, played in Geneva or listened to by Genevans. Possible submissions include essays or poems about playing or listening to music, drawings or photographs conveying feelings or experiences of making or enjoying music, or written interviews with current or former amateur or professional musicians in Geneva.

Students should submit contributions by Thursday, November 10 to John Marks at jmarks@genevahistoricalsociety.com or by mail to Geneva Historical Society, 543 South Main Street, Geneva, NY 14456.

Exhibit panels for the Music in the Key of Geneva project can be seen at the Geneva Public Library, the Visitor's Center on the lakefront, the Geneva Community Center, and the Smith Opera House. For blog posts and podcasts exploring the project, visit www.genevhistoricalsociety.com.
