Casa Larga Ice Wines Awarded Gold at International Competition

Jun 07th, 2013

Fairport, NY - Two of Casa Larga's ice wines, the 2010 Fiori Vidal Ice Wine and the Fiori Ice Wine Cuvee, were awarded gold medals at the 2013 Taster's Guild International Wine Tasting.

This is the third medal for the recently-released 2010 Fiori Vidal Ice Wine vintage. It also received Gold at the Dallas Morning News National Wine Competition and Silver at the San Diego International Wine Competition. The wine is produced in the traditional German Eiswein method and has flavors of pineapple, apricot and butterscotch with a lingering honey finish. The new ice wine vintage is $39.99 and is available at select liquor stores and the winery.

The Fiori Ice Wine Cuvee was first released by the winery in 2012 and also won Silver at the 2012 New York Wine & Food Classic. The wine is made by adding a dosage of the Vidal Blanc ice wine to Casa Larga's Blanc de Blanc Champagne. The Champagne is made in the traditional French Methode Champenoise style and stored for five to seven years before receiving the ice wine dosage. Bottles of the Fiori Ice Wine Cuvee are $29.99 and are only available at the Casa Larga Wine Shop.

"We are very proud of all of our wines, but especially the ice wines and the cuvee," comments Andrea Colaruotolo-O'Neill, Director of Marketing at Casa Larga Vineyards. "We take pride in making ice wines and the cuvee using traditional methods and we're confident that it shows in the complexity, flavors and quality of our wines."
