Rochester's winery is ready for summer with 3 new vintages of summer wines. |

Fairport, NY - Casa Larga Vineyards is releasing three new wines that are ideal for summer. The 2012 vintages of their Dry and Medium Dry Riesling were released to their Wine Lover Club Members starting June 1, and to the general public on June 15. These were the first wines that winemaker Matt Cassavaugh worked on as head winemaker and are arriving just before the Summer of Riesling begins on June 21. "2012 was a great growing season for Rieslings," remarks Matt Cassavaugh, Head Winemaker at Casa Larga Vineyards. "We chose eight small lots to pull the fruit from in order to produce more complex Rieslings this year. We also picked the fruit at different times to get all the different flavors. The Medium Dry has a floral and ripe peach nose and the Dry has hints of lime and grapefruit. My favorite pairing with these Rieslings is Blue Cheese on a small piece of lightly toasted bread." Casa Larga is also in production of their 2012 Vidal Blanc, expected to release at the end of June. The wine is an unoaked, crisp white wine with fragrant floral notes and a citrus finish. It has strong hints of ripe apricots and peaches with a full body and is a dry wine made with the Vidal Blanc grape. It pairs well with summer foods like crab cakes, avocado salsa, poached salmon, salads with vinaigrette dressings and cured meats. Both Rieslings are available and the Vidal Blanc will be released at Casa Larga's Wine Shop in Fairport and at select liquor stores in Rochester. The 2012 Dry Riesling is $12.99, the 2012 Medium Dry Riesling is $11.99 and the Vidal Blanc will be $11.99. |
