Cayuga Lake Wine Trail's Vintner Vacation Has Begun

Jun 12th, 2017

Romulus, NY (June, 12, 2017) -- Today marks the start of the second annual Vintner Vacation along the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail. Five winners – three hailing from Pennsylvania, one from Connecticut and one from Vermont have each brought a lucky friend of theirs to experience all the Trail has to offer. The group will spend the next three days and two nights relishing in the sights and tastes of Cayuga Lake.

The Vacation began with a picnic-style lunch on the patio at Knapp’s Vineyard Restaurant, followed by a tasting, and property tour conducted by winemaker, Steve DiFrancesco. The remainder of their first day will consist of a lesson in writing wine descriptions and viewing the on-goings of a bottling line at Buttonwood Grove, where some of the group will stay overnight in the cabins while others hang their hats down the road at the new Cayuga Lake Cabins. On Tuesday, the group will visit Long Point Winery by a scenic boat ride with Water to Wine Tours, where they’ll experience a vertical wine tasting. Then, by boat, they’ll be brought to Goose Watch Winery to tour the sparkling facility, have lunch at the Bistro at Thirsty Owl, and rest for the evening at the lakeside Busy Bee Cottages. Their final day will start with a sunrise yoga session and breakfast at Busy Bee before meeting with the all-female management team of the oldest winery on Cayuga Lake, Lucas Vineyards. The Vacation will end with a final lunch at Crystal Lake Café at Americana Vineyards mid-day Wednesday.
