Celebrate Commemorate Memorial Day 2013-Music, Music,Music

May 22nd, 2013

WATERLOO - What would a festival be without music?  Walt Bennett has gathered a cornucopia of musicians to perform on the Lafayette Park Stage during Celebrate Commemorate, May 24-26.

From pop to rock to country, there will be lots of music for listening and eating good food from the concession stands.  There’s lots of seating under the big tent, so the show goes on rain or shine.

The festival starts on Saturday with the zany Hit Men Brass Band who will perform from noon to 12:30, fresh from their antics in the Celebrate parade.  Following kids’ entertainment, the ever popular Donna and the Mystics will take the stage with their country tunes at 2:55.  Agonal Rhythn performs easy rock and roll beginning at 4:30 followed at 6 p.m. by Black Ice playing country and rock. The evening closes with Donna Jacob and Midnight Mood performing rock and roll and blues tunes.

Sunday’s musical offerings begin with the Seneca Singers’ close vocal harmonies at 11:55a.m. and the Seneca Soundwaves at 12:35 p.m.   The mood changes at 1:30 when Tyler Mason introduces his unique newer country sound.  Hold your hats when Knock It Off presents 60s to 90s rock and roll beginning at 3pm. followed by Pulsate’s modern rock and roll at 3 p.m.

All musical concerts are free. Beer coolers and alcoholic beverages are not allowed, so the event is family friendly. In addition to the acts on the Lafayette Park stage, Merry Mischief strolling musicians will perform from 4:30 to 7:30 on Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
