Raised and homeschooled on the McDonald family organic farm in Romulus, NY, Rebecca Colleen McDonald has been singing as long as can be remembered. Her rich compelling voice and dialog between songs draw the audience in with ease. Rebecca Colleen and the Chore Lads perform a variety of acoustic, folk, country, gospel and blue grass music. The Chore Lads feature Peter McDonald, on fiddle, banjo, guitar and vocals, Douglas Henrie on bass, and Perry Cleaveland on mandolin, all of whom have a long list of musical accomplishments. With their three-part harmonies, the performance is accomplished, lively and not to be missed.

About Rebecca Colleen and The Chore Lads

Homeschooled on the family farm in the Finger Lakes Region of Upstate NY, the audiences Rebecca McDonald grew up with usually contained chickens, cows, sheep...and whichever of her 8 brothers walking by.

Raised with many musical influences including Gospel, Bluegrass, Country, Opera and Broadway show tunes, her first aspiration was to become an actress. She was able to perform in several productions (including one written by an older brother and performed in the old family barn ), but came to prefer a more simplified, personal approach on stage, as well as the artistic freedom to interpret songs her own way.

She has carried that sense of creative interpretation throughout her musical endeavors, and as one observer notes, it is "... a stunning mix of knowing how to make a song her own; an uncommon patience for letting the lyrics unfold; an extraordinary ease that translates as old-soulfulness; and above all, perhaps, the sheer joy of sharing the songs she loves". ~Mary Burdette, Associate Director, Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival

Beginning her musical career at age 12, she performed with her father and brother in the "McDonald Family Band" and, in 2008, with the support of an ever-growing fan base, the band switched gears and names to become "Rebecca Colleen and the Chore Lads” and feature her as the lead vocalist.

Rebecca has performed with Rhonda Vincent, Claire Lynch, Valerie Smith, the Gibson Brothers, and April Verch among others, as well as being featured on WVBR's Bound for Glory radio show... She sings with style, grace and sensitivity far beyond her 18 years and continues to work on writing new material while searching for good unique songs to add to her repertoire. From break your heart ballads to incendiary instrumentals, this is a singer and a band that puts on a show everyone can enjoy.
