Lisa and Don Bennett, Jr., owners of Conesus Lake Campground in the Finger Lakes vacation region of New York State, announces their park placed fourth on the list of 10 Most Scenic Spots for Lakeside Camping in the U.S., in a ranking published by TheTravel, an online travel site that provides top-trending content to its readership.

The list, located at https://www.thetravel.com/most-scenic-lake-camping-in-the-us/, was published on June 20, 2023.

Conesus Lake Campground is a family-owned and family-oriented business, opened over 60 years ago by the late Edward and Mildred Yaniszewski, grandparents of current owner Don Bennett, Jr.

The campground is situated on the scenic eastern shoreline of Conesus Lake, one of 11 New York waterbodies collectively known as the Finger Lake. It has 150 campsites and six onsite rentals (cabins, cottages, and lodges), catering to both transient and seasonal campers. The hillside location affords campers with spectacular views overlooking the lake, known for its beautiful sunsets.

Lisa Bennett is thrilled that their park is included in the list, but reckons they have the location and amenities to qualify. “When I heard I was just like, ‘Wow!’ But we’ve always been proud to be located on Conesus Lake, and we’re now in our 61st year here. We have really nice lake access, and we’ve spent the past few years focusing on improving our lakefront area for people to enjoy.”

Guests seem to appreciate the upgrades and access. “Everyone that comes here always says how nice the lakefront area is,” Lisa Bennett says. “We have boats, kayaks, and stand-up paddle boards for rent, and we even have a special kayak launch mechanism. And families can fish off the docks if they want, which is a plus because there’s not a lot of places for public fishing access without a boat.”

One of the most visually stunning events of the year is the annual Ring of Fire celebration on July 3rd. Campers at the park have the best vantage point to watch as lakeside residents light flares at exactly 10:00 pm along the entire shoreline of the lake, accompanied by multiple fireworks displays.

Lisa Bennett welcomes guests to come experience their campground and the iconic Finger Lakes experiences nearby. “You can spend the day on the lake or floating in our indoor heated swimming pool. Or venture out to visit the hundreds of local wineries or hike the area’s beautiful gorges and waterfalls nearby. Everyone will find something to enjoy that entices them back again.”
