Corning's Gaffer District Announces Entertainment Lineup for Annual Harvest Music Festival

Sep 11th, 2015

Corning, NY—Corning’s Gaffer District and Elmira Savings Bank are proud to announce the entertainment lineup for this year’s annual Harvest Music Festival. The event takes place on Friday, September 18 from 5–9pm and Saturday, September 19 from 11am–6pm.

Thomas M. Carr, President & CEO, Elmira Savings Bank said, “Elmira Savings Bank is pleased to be the title sponsor for the 2015 Harvest Music Festival. The Gaffer District has continued to expand this annual event helping to grow its popularity."

The Friday night tradition of Finger Lakes wine and craft beer tastings in select Gaffer District businesses is from 5–8pm. Guests may participate in the tastings by purchasing a souvenir wine and beer glass at one of three checkpoints throughout the district (Centerway Square, the Radisson Hotel Corning and Cap’n Morgan’s). Cost to participate is $15 and is restricted to individuals age 21 and older. Photo ID is required for all participants. Pre-sale tickets go on sale at the Information Center of Corning beginning September 4. Designated Drivers can participate in a special program sponsored by Bottles & Corks. The DD in your group will receive a FREE wristband, which will entitle him/her to a variety of great specials and promotions at participating businesses in the Gaffer District.

Executive Director for Corning’s Gaffer District, Coleen Fabrizi said, “Kicking off the fall season at our Harvest Music Festival  has become a beloved tradition for many people throughout the region and beyond. Thanks to our growing number of sponsors we continue to add to the line-up of free music and family activities included as people shop and dine their way through Corning’s Gaffer District.”

Music will fill downtown Corning all weekend, starting Friday with Los Angeles based 2011 nominee for “Jazz Group of the Year”, Tizer Quartet, Friday at 8pm. Nashville recording artist Daryle Singletary is known for his country authenticity and hits like "I Let Her Lie," “Too Much Fun” and "Amen Kind of Love." Daryle stays true to what he loves most, traditional Country music. On past albums, some of the greatest talents in his industry have lined up to sing with Daryle, including the late George Jones and Johnny Paycheck, Dwight Yoakam, Merle Haggard, Ricky Skaggs, John Anderson and Rhonda Vincent.

Due to the nature of the venue, admission is free and seating is limited. The rain location for Saturday's performance at 5pm is the Tioga Avenue Parking Garage. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs if desired.

Visitors are also invited to participate in Saturday’s scarecrow scavenger hunt, family-friendly activities, a tractor display and the Corning Farmers Market, featuring local baked goods, produce, flowers and crafts. Many businesses will also participate with special promotions and incentives for shoppers throughout the weekend.
