Cover Photo Contest Winner Selected

Jan 05th, 2016

The Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the winner of its 2016 Travel Guide Cover Photo Contest, Mickey Coviello of Baltimore, Maryland. Mickey’s photo features the iconic Triple Cascades in Watkins Glen State Park, one of the most visited state parks in New York.

This stunning image will grace the cover of 125,000 copies of the Official 2016 Watkins Glen and Schuyler County Travel Guide. The contest launched on the Visit Watkins Glen and Schuyler County Facebook Page over the summer. Entries came from across the state and the country and overall, 24 photos were entered. After reaching over 22,000 people on Facebook, the three photos with the most “likes” moved onto the next round. The Tourism Committee of the Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce then voted to select the cover.

Upon learning that his photo was selected, Mickey shared, “I’m honored and humbled. A big thanks to everyone that voted for my photograph, especially those from the Cabinet family! Everyone should visit Watkins Glen State Park and marvel at the beauty of hundreds of thousands of years of natural evolution.

Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce Tourism and Marketing Manager Brittany Gibbs oversees production of the travel guide and is thrilled with the cover selection, “This beautiful image of Triple Cascades will certainly lure potential visitors to pick up this guide while they no doubt wonder, ‘Where is this incredible place?!’ It will certainly inspire visits to Schuyler County. The timing could not be better for Watkins Glen State Park to make the cover, given that it was voted one of the top 3 state parks in the country earlier this year by USA Today. Recognition of our hometown park has never been greater and I’m especially excited to see how the rest of the travel guide comes together behind this beautiful photograph.”

The Official 2016 Watkins Glen and Schuyler County Travel Guide will be available on March 31, 2016.
