Aug 05th, 2014

Hammondsport, New York – August 4, 2014 – Dr. Konstantin Frank Vinifera Wine Cellars won “Winery of the Year” at the Indy International Wine Competition held last week. The honor was awarded to Dr. Frank’s based on the quality demonstrated by the winery at the competition.

In total, Dr. Frank’s won 2 “Concordance” medals (similar to double gold, which require unanimity between judges), 1 gold medal, 7 silver medals and 1 bronze medal. The Dr. Frank 2012 Sauvignon Blanc and 2013 Gewürztraminer won Concordance medals and the Dr. Frank 2013 Semi-Dry Riesling won a gold medal.

Held in Indiana, the judging panel at the competition consists of top winemakers and chefs, marketing executives and wholesalers, writers and journalists, enologists and winegrowers, from Napa to New York. The “Winery of the Year” honor from the Indy International Wine Competition tops the lengthy list of acclaim Dr. Frank’s has won so far this year.

Now in its fourth generation, Dr. Konstantin Frank Wine Cellars continues as New York’s most award-winning winery since 1962. Located on Keuka Lake a few miles north of Hammondsport, Dr. Konstantin Frank Vinifera Wine Cellars has long been associated with the New York wine revolution. Its founder, Dr. Konstantin Frank, helped pioneer the introduction of the European vitis vinifera grapevines in the eastern United States. For his contributions in the American wine industry he was inducted into the Wine Spectator’s “Hall of Fame.”
