Dr. Konstantin Frank Sparkling Wines Featured Among “Year’s Best Summer Sparklers” in Wine & Spirits Magazine

Jul 02nd, 2018

Hammondsport, New York – July 2nd, 2018 – In the August 2018 issue of Wine & Spirits Magazine, two Dr. Konstantin Frank sparkling wines were featured among a list of the “Year’s Best Summer Sparklers.” Six wines were featured in the New York section; 2 from Dr. Konstantin Frank, 2 from Hermann J. Wiemer, 1 from Glenora, and 1 from Bellangelo.

The Dr. Konstantin Frank 2012 Blanc de Blancs was rated “92 Points” and the 2012 Blanc de Noirs was rated “90 Points.” 2012 was an excellent vintage for sparkling wines at Dr. Konstantin Frank resulting in distinct aromatics and excellent body.  Each of these wines was aged 5 years on the lees before being released earlier this year.

Dr. Konstantin Frank Winery’s sparkling wine program was started by Willy Frank in the 1980’s with a focus on the traditional méthode champenoise utilizing the classic French champagne grapes.  Today, the winery continues this tradition of excellence started by Willy Frank.  Dr. Konstantin Frank sparkling wines continue to be produced in the méthode champenoise within the cellar of historic Chateau Frank with conditions perfect for long term aging.  All Dr. Konstantin Frank sparkling wines are typically aged 2-6 years on the lees. Late in 2017 we unified our message, transitioning our original “Chateau Frank” name of sparkling wines under the Dr. Konstantin Frank name. Over the last thirty years Chateau Frank has come to be known as one of the most premium sparkling wine producers in the country and will continue under the Dr. Konstantin Frank name.

Now in its fourth generation, Dr. Konstantin Frank Winery has been one of the most prestigious wineries in the Finger Lakes wine region since 1962.  Located on Keuka Lake a few miles north of Hammondsport, Dr. Konstantin Frank Winery has long been associated with the New York wine revolution. Its founder, Dr. Konstantin Frank, helped pioneer the introduction of the European vitis vinifera grapevines in the eastern United States.
