Elevator Project at The Rockwell Museum

Jan 21st, 2014

CORNING, NY -- The single elevator that serves three floors of the Rockwell Museum of Western Art will be shut down from January 27, 2014 - February 15, 2014. The elevator is being replaced and it is expected the project will take this long to complete.

The Museum will remain open to the public throughout this project. The public will still have stair-access to Museum galleries on the second and third floors. The Museum Store is on the ground level of the facility and is open every day, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. There is no admission fee to shop.

The staff of The Rockwell Museum wants the public and its members to know about the elevator shutdown and to plan accordingly during this period. Access to the second and third floors will be by stairs.

The Museum is planning to alleviate the disruption of elevator service as much as possible. Signage will be posted throughout The Museum about the pending and ongoing elevator shutdown.

"Its replacement will assure easy access for all our customers to the collections, facilities and services located on our second and third floors for years to come. We are working to let the public know in advance so those who may be affected by the elevator shutdown can plan accordingly," says Director of Guest Services, Cindy Weakland.

For more information or questions during the elevator replacement, please call the Museum at 607.937.5386 or visit www.rockwellmuseum.org.
