Finger Lakes Museum Launches Vacation Home Giveaway

Sep 17th, 2013

KEUKA PARK, NY – Enter for a chance to win a week in the Finger Lakes at Timbercrest, a spectacular home on beautiful Canandaigua Lake.  In support of The Finger Lakes Museum, Finger Lakes Premier Properties and the owners of Timbercrest, Fran and Todd Putnam, have donated a week’s stay for one lucky ticket buyer.

Finger Lakes Premier Properties has been a strong supporter of the Museum project since its inception in 2008.  They have sponsored educational programs, supported a number of fundraising campaigns and Dr. Lynn Thurston, President of Premier Properties, serves on the Museum’s Advisory Board.  “Finger Lakes Premier Properties is a huge supporter of The Finger Lakes Museum”, explains Dr. Thurston.  “The Museum is going to benefit the region by adding jobs, further fueling the tourism industry and creating educational opportunities for ourselves, our children and their children.  It’s a regional attraction we should all support in every way possible.”

New to the Museum project, Fran and Todd were eager to learn more.  In June, they attended an informational cruise aboard the Esperanza Rose where Museum staff and Board of Trustee members engaged the group with a presentation and newly released design plans and collateral materials.  The Putnam’s stated “Offering a week’s stay toward a fundraising initiative seemed like a great way to support our appreciation of The Finger Lakes Museum and the benefit it has provided and will continue to provide to our surrounding communities.  We feel very blessed to be able to live in this region and experience the natural surroundings and pristine lakes.”

The Finger Lakes Museum will be a regional educational complex, consisting of natural and cultural history exhibits, an aquarium, interpretive sites, and a research facility.  With its main location found on the northwestern tip of Keuka Lake, the Museum is dedicated to celebrating the Finger Lakes region in its entirety.  Through engaging programs and a stunning palette of indoor and outdoor facilities, the Museum will inspire residents and visitors alike to explore and enjoy the region’s unique cultural heritage and fascinating natural history.

Each ticket purchased will directly support bringing the first phase (the Discovery Campus) of the Museum to a reality.  The Campus will serve as an educational hub – showcasing sustainability by bringing new life to a former elementary school in the hamlet of Branchport.  Soon, children and adults will have the opportunity to: dig in to interpretative educational gardens, visit with bald eagles at the Campus’ Back from the Brink of Extinction exhibit, learn the importance of stormwater runoff methods, and immerse themselves in freshwater experience while paddling along Sugar Creek, a waterway teeming with life.

Tickets can be purchased until November 30th for $25 per ticket or 5 tickets for $100.  Visit the Museum’s website at www.FingerLakesMuseum.org to purchase tickets or contact Museum Communications Director, Natalie Payne, at npayne@fingerlakesmuseum.org or 607-368-3054.
