Crazy About Collecting Tours on Veteran’s Day – with Bobby Rockwell

CORNING, NEW YORK – Son of our founding collector and collector in his own right, Bobby Rockwell will be on-hand to guide visitors through a small portion of his antique firearms display now on view in the “Lock, Stock and Barrel” exhibit gallery. “Crazy About Collecting Tours” with Bobby will take place starting at 2:00 p.m. on Veteran’s Day, November 11.

If you know someone with a collection, or if you collect things yourself, you know there are droves of stories associated with each acquisition.  Bobby Rockwell, son of the Museum’s founding collector Bob Rockwell, has made collecting a lifelong pursuit.  And he has countless stories to share about amassing his one-of-a-kind antique firearms collection.  From the American Revolution to the Hollywood Cowboy, Bobby’s firearm collection tells the story of the American experience.

In celebration of Veteran’s Day, we have made an addition to the “Make Your Own Postcard” activity in the Family Exploration Studio.  There is a mailbox at the end of the art table with special instructions to “Make a Postcard for A Veteran”, encouraging visitors to write a message honoring someone who has served in the U.S. Armed Forces.  The Bath VA Medical Center will be picking up the postcards on Thursday, November 13.

If you would like to make a postcard for a veteran with a special message, please do so by the end of the day, Wednesday, November 12.  There are special mailing labels for your veteran postcard in the recessed center space.
