Roseland Waterpark will be adding a new water experience this summer, Roseland Wake Park, thanks to the vision of local businessmen David Clements, Jeff Arnold and Dan Fuller. According to Clements, "It will be a full-size cable, Wakeboard Park where customers can wakeboard, water ski, kneeboard, and wake skate without a boat!" Roseland Wake Park, located on Muar Lake, will be the first wake park in the Northeast. Cable parks are new to the U.S. with only 14 currently in operation. This innovated watersports concept is more common in European countries, and have just recently begun to gain popularity in the U.S.
Instead of being pulled behind a boat, riders will be pulled by an overhead cable system. Features such as ramps and rails will be installed around the lake so riders can perform tricks. These features are similar to what you would find in a terrain park at a ski area. Not everyone has access to a boat or their own watersports equipment, but that is no longer a problem. "Roseland Wake Park will be able to accommodate up to nine riders at a time and will have all the necessary watersports gear in our rental and retail shop, which will be provided by Liquid Force. Customers will only need to bring their bathing suit and a towel", remarks, Roseland Wake Park manager, Kyle Dickman. "The other benefit is that is cost about 85 cents per mile to pull a rider behind a boat. The cost to pull a rider on a cable is less than a penny per mile so the energy consumption footprint is much smaller", adds, Marketing Director, Drew Broderick.
Roseland Wake Park will cater to all skill levels. It will have beginner and advanced features so everyone can ride at their own comfort level and will have on-site instructors to help customers improve their riding. The park will also have a two-tower practice system for beginners. Camps, parties, and lessons will be available. Arnold, exclaims, "I am very excited about our Learn to Ride Guarantee. Anyone age 4 and older has the opportunity to enjoy watersports this summer without needing to rely on access to a boat. The learn curve is very short so guests graduate to the main course very quickly."
"The economic impact of an adventure attraction like this is huge for the Finger Lakes Region. Tourists are no longer relegated to the stay on the lake shores when they visit the area," explains, Roseland Waterpark Owner, Dan Fuller. "Roseland Wake Park will give them a true on the water experience with the option to wake board, wake skate, knee board or water ski. A full service rental shop will provide them with a board, boots, helmet and life jacket. The guest just needs to bring a swim suit and their enthusiasm for water sports", says, operations manager, Kyle Dickman.
Other offerings at the wake park will be Aquaglide, a floating obstacle course, stand up paddle board rentals, lessons and weekly summer camps for the kids.
A Grand Opening Celebration will be held on July 11th from 10am-8pm. Activities will include free hot dogs, free tee shirts to the first 250 people to create a profile, Pro Riders from Liquid Force will perform in the mid-afternoon and more.
