Jul 25th, 2013

July 25, 2013

Geneva, N.Y.: On Saturday, August 10, 2013, the Geneva Historical Society will host Community Free Day at Rose Hill Mansion. Tour guides will be stationed throughout the house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and visitors can see the house free of charge. The program is especially appropriate for families, with tour guides focusing on the Swan children and their lives at the house in the 1850s and 1860s. In addition, there will be old-fashioned games, crafts, and a scavenger hunt. Lemonade and cookies will be served on the grounds, and author Pat Gorthy will be signing copies of her children’s book, Peppermint Summer. This fictional tale of a young girl’s experiences in Wayne County in the 1860s will be for sale at the Rose Hill's Carriage House Gift Shop. Community Day is free and open to the public. Support for the event is provided by the Delavan Foundation.

Rose Hill Mansion is located at 3373 Route 96A, about a mile south of Routes 5&20, near Geneva, New York. For more information about this program, call the Geneva Historical Society at 315-789-5151.
