The Geneva Historical Society will honor Barbara Lamb as Volunteer of the Year at its Annual Meeting and Dinner on Monday, June 20, 2016 at the Geneva Country Club, 4147 West Lake Road. A social hour will begin at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.
Barbara Lamb is a long-time volunteer and member of the Geneva Historical Society. She has served on the Board of Trustees and worked on the Annual Wassail Bowl and Sale and Tour of Homes. She has supported the Historical Society over the years by helping with mailings, providing refreshments for receptions, and making bows and floral arrangements for events. In recent years, Barbara has been a fixture in the Historical Society's archive, where she tackles some of the most difficult genealogy inquiries and assists visitors in their family research.
A graduate of Smith College, Barbara came to Geneva to work at the New York Agricultural Experiment Station, where she met her late husband, Dr. Robert Lamb. They had three children, two of whom live in the area. She also worked at a local florist for many years and often contributes her talents arranging flowers for events. Barbara is a member of The Presbyterian Church of Geneva and also volunteers with the Community Lunch Program, the Friends of the Geneva Public Library, and belongs to the Fortnightly Reading Club.
A short business meeting will be held to highlight last year’s activities at the Historical Society and elect new officers and trustees. The evening’s speaker will be John Marks, the Historical Society's Curator of Collections and Exhibitions. He will speak about this summer's exhibit Music in the Key of Geneva.
The dinner is open to the public, but reservations are required. Tickets for the dinner are $35 per person. Entrée choices are stuffed chicken, roasted pork loin, or pasta primavera. The meal includes salad, roll, and dessert. There will be a cash bar during the event. Reservations can be made by calling the Geneva Historical Society at 315-789-5151 by June 17.
