Geneva Historical Society to Recognize Anniversaries at 2018 Annual Meeting

May 29th, 2018

Geneva, N.Y.: The Geneva Historical Society will hold its Annual Meeting and Dinner on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Club 86, Avenue E, Geneva. A social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.

A short business meeting will be held to highlight last year’s activities and elect new officers and trustees. Following the meeting, the Society will recognize two important milestones. This year marks the 50th anniversary of both the Society's Wassail Bowl Sale and the opening of Rose Hill Mansion as a museum. To celebrate these occasions, there will be a special tribute to the women who have made the fundraising sale a success over the years, and Executive Director Kerry Lippincott will share stories about Rose Hill's evolution from a private home to a historic house museum.

The Historical Society will also honor Dick Buck as Volunteer of the Year. Dick Buck has served on the Board of Trustees as the Geneva Town Supervisor's Designee since 2014. He has been an instrumental member of the Property Committee and has played a considerable role in the continued maintenance and preservation of Rose Hill Mansion. Dick was born and raised in Geneva.

Dick spent many years working in the building materials industry, beginning at Timberline in Canandaigua. He spent 28 years working for Wickes Lumber throughout the northeast. He returned to Geneva in 1992 and worked for Genesee Reserve Supply until his retirement in 2010. He lives with his wife Marion on West Lake Road. They have one son and one daughter.

The dinner is open to the public, but reservations are required. Tickets for the dinner are $35 per person and reservations must be made in advance. Entrée choices are stuffed chicken breast, New York strip steak, grilled stuffed portabella mushrooms or broiled white fish. The meal includes salad, roll, and dessert. There will be a cash bar during the event. Reservations can be made by calling the Geneva Historical Society at 315-789-5151 by June 21.
