Haunted History Trail of NYS Comes Alive in Tioga County

Oct 04th, 2013

Owego, NY -- Tioga County is participating in a new statewide paranormal trail that includes hauntings and ghostly events in Tioga County, along with 12 additional counties across the state.

From Rolling Hills Asylum in Genesee County, to Wing’s Castle in the Hudson

Valley, follow the legends, hauntings, and spooky heritage of the Empire State's most historic sites. Joining the trail in Tioga includes the haunted guided tours at the Owego Parkview Restaurant, Zombieland at Turkey Trot Acres in Candor, and the 1st Annual Owego Zombie Fest to be held October 26.

Paranormal tourism has become quite popular over the last few years, and we saw an opportunity to join a platform that would promote our haunted assets to that niche audience,” said Stella Reschke, Tourism Director for Tioga County. Tioga immediately jumped in to join the program when Genesee County reached out to all statewide tourism agencies to see who might be interested in a collaborative program. “We were pleasantly surprised that 12 other counties wanted to be a part of our new program, and we expect more to join in 2014,” said Kelly Rapone, Tourism Marketing Director for the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce.”
