1920s Game Days at Geneva History Museum
Geneva, N.Y.: In conjunction with the exhibit There'll Be Some Changes Made: Geneva in the 1920s, Historic Geneva is hosting two Family and Friends 1920s Game Days at the Geneva History Museum during February Break. Participants can learn about and play card and board games from the 1920s while watching silent films. Familiar games like Old Maid, Sorry!, and Go Fish originated or became widely popular in the 1920s. The game Mahjongg took off in America during this decade. Visitors to the event can try the game at a Mahjongg table with experienced players available to help those who are new to the game.
There are two dates for this event, Tuesday, February 21, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Thursday, February 23, 3 to 5 p.m. Come to one or both! Snacks and beverages will be provided. The game days are free and open to the public.
The Geneva History Museum is located in the Prouty-Chew House at 543 South Main Street, Geneva, NY. Winter hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is a suggested donation of $5 per person. Parking is on the street or in the Trinity Episcopal Church lot across the street.
Historic Geneva, formerly the Geneva Historical Society, tells the stories of Geneva, New York at the Geneva History Museum, Rose Hill Mansion, and Johnston House, and online at historicgeneva.org.
