A perfect weekend to hone your skills
Aurora, N. Y.—From February 7 to 9, 2014, the Inns of Aurora are slated to host their first Writers’ Workshop weekend. Featuring instruction from local writers across a variety of genres, the weekend will provide the perfect opportunity for writers to work on existing projects, or begin new endeavors. Writers, poets, novelists, and essayists of all ages and skill levels are welcome. The weekend is the perfect opportunity to share and workshop projects, or to spend quiet, uninterrupted hours of time writing. The weekend, including all meals, overnight accommodations, and instruction, as well as a welcome gift, is $550 per person, plus tax. The weekend is $850 per couple.
Writers Mark Temelko, Tina Post, and Bob Proehl will be amongst the instructors joining the Writers’ Workshop schedule. Each instructor will provide unique perspective and advice on endeavors across a number of genres, including but not limited to: non-fiction essay, fiction writing, and poetry. Temelko is a poet, and also currently employed by Yale University School of Law. Post is currently in the process of acquiring her PhD at in American and African American Studies at Yale University, and works primarily in non-fiction. Writer and instructor Bob Proehl operates Buffalo Street Books, a literary co-op located in Ithaca, New York.
“The real strength of the Writers’ Workshop weekend is the breadth of experience each of the three instructors brings to the table,” comments event organizer Emily Ambrose. “These individuals are not cookie-cutter professors or paint-by-numbers novelists. They each bring a unique set of skills and talents to their instruction.” The Writers’ Workshop retreat weekend will also feature dinner, lunch, and breakfasts provided by the Aurora Inn Dining Room culinary team.
