Local B&B's Finger Lakes Beer Trail Package Getting Attention

Apr 20th, 2016

HAMMONDSPORT, NY – One local B&B is creating some buzz with its Finger Lakes Beer Trail Getaway Package. Recognized in 2015 as one of “the best New York State B&B’s” by The Virgin Atlantic Blog due to the creative ways the innkeepers customize packages to make the experiences of their guests even more spectacular, the Black Sheep Inn and Spa in Hammondsport has garnered some recent attention with its latest getaway package which is centered around the thriving craft beer craze.

While the Finger Lakes region has spent over 150 years becoming a world-class wine destination, over the past decade the number of craft breweries in the region has grown so dramatically that nearly half of all New York State craft breweries are located on the Finger Lakes Beer Trail making it one of the largest, if not the largest, organized beer trail in the country with over 85 breweries and brew pubs.

That’s more breweries than you’ll find in 38 different states!

Some call it a craft beer movement, others a trend, but with about 1 ½ new breweries opening up each day around the country, it’s really an explosion. The huge growth spurt owes itself, in part, to the endless variety of flavors and styles available. Long gone are the days when people had to settle for just one type of beer. Craft brewers also offer people a variety of experiences with their tastings.

It’s that same appeal to individual tastes that drives the Black Sheep Inn and Spa owners, Debbie Meritsky and Marc Rotman, to create unique, customized getaway packages like the Finger Lakes Beer Trail package. In a recent article titled “8 Unique Ways to Celebrate National Beer Day,” LuxeGetaways blog highlighted the Black Sheep Inn and Spa for its very tasteful beer-centric escape

The special package includes an indulgent organic Finger Lakes farm-to-table breakfast, an Inn Harvest cooler filled with a wide selection of local cheeses, veggies, crackers and dips to enjoy while on the Beer Trail, and one of the inn’s signature, insulated 64 ounce growlers (the perfect way to assure your favorite brew makes it home fresh). Debbie and Marc also provide participants of the beer trail package a Finger Lakes Beer Trail Map, a special gift from the Inn, and will even help guests create a “customized loop” around their particular tastes and interests.

Built in 1859 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Black Sheep Inn and Spa is a tastefully restored octagon-shaped house offering unique architectural history, a great location, and exciting hands-on opportunities, like the chance to create art - including jewelry design with Debbie and stained glass work with Marc who is also a stained-glass artist.

Marc and Debbie take the philosophy “We do not remember days, we remember moments” by Cesare Pavese to heart and are always coming up with new ways to enhance a guest’s stay, helping to create the sort of moments worth remembering.
