MAG to Host World AIDS Day Event

Celebration Series offers Rochester area families and community members the opportunity to learn more about specific cultures, communities, and events through performances, presentations, art & crafts, and more. On Wednesday, December 1, from 5 to 9 pm, the Memorial Art Gallery will host World AIDS Day—Global Solidarity, Shared Responsibility: The past is local, the present is global, the future is shared—in tribute to those living with and affected by HIV/AIDS and in anticipation of the upcoming exhibition Up Against the Wall: Art, Activism, and the AIDS Poster, which features HIV/AIDS Education Posters from the Atwater Collection at the University of Rochester.
Event Schedule:
5–6:30 pm – Visit community informational tables and interact with others, take part in arts & crafts, and view a continuous digital display slideshow of AIDS Education Posters from the digital collection site, focusing on the history of World AIDS Day from around the world
6:30–8 pm – Enjoy concert performances
8-8:30 pm – Closing reception
This event is free to the public with a suggested donation of $5 per group and registration for tickets is required. Please visit MAG’s website for the most up-to-date information on the event and how to register. Proof of vaccination is required in the form of a vaccination card or the excelsior app. Masks are mandatory.

About Memorial Art Gallery
The Memorial Art Gallery showcases visual art from antiquity to the present day, including the outdoor public Centennial Sculpture Park. In addition to its permanent collection, MAG offers a year-round schedule of special exhibitions, lectures, concerts, tours, after-hours social events, and family activities.
Hours: Wednesday–Sunday 11 am to 5 pm, and until 9 pm on Thursdays. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
Admission: $20; senior citizens, $17; college students with ID and children 6–18, $11. Always free to members, University of Rochester faculty/staff and students, and children 5 and under. Half-price general admission Thursdays from 5–9 pm is made possible by Monroe County, with additional support from FULLMEA5URE.
