Major Lifestyle Brand, Beekman 1802 Mercantile, To Open Market Street Pop-up Location in Corning, NY

May 06th, 2015

Corning, NY—Corning's Gaffer District is proud to announce that Beekman 1802 Mercantile has chosen Downtown Corning as the location of its seasonal pop-up shop.

Located at 18 W. Market St., the Beekman 1802 Summer Outpost will operate from May 23 to October 4.

Owned by Brent Ridge and Josh Kilmer-Purcell, from the Cooking Channel's The Fabulous Beekman Boys, and winners of The Amazing Race, Beekman 1802 Mercantile is considered one of the fastest growing lifestyle brands in the United States.

In 2007, Ridge and Kilmer-Purcell purchased the historic Beekman 1802 Farm in Sharon Springs, New York. After partnering with neighboring farmers, they began producing soaps and cheese. As their success started to grow, Ridge and Kilmer-Purcell began working with several other local farmers and artisans to market their goods, and soon the entire village of Sharon Springs came together to host seasonal festivals, which are now attended by thousands of visitors from around the globe each year.

The Corning Beekman 1802 Summer Outpost will stock a selection of Beekman's award-winning bath and body products, gourmet foods and home goods. Ridge and Kilmer-Purcell will visit the pop-up location frequently throughout the season, and hope to connect with the region's artisans and food producers.

"We love the commitment that Corning and its community makes to keeping the business district so vibrant," said Brent Ridge, Co-Founder of Beekman 1802 Mercantile. "We are so thrilled to make a home here for the summer season."

"We are thrilled to welcome Beekman 1802 to Historic Market Street and the Corning community," added Coleen Fabrizi, Executive Director of Corning's Gaffer District. "One of the most exciting aspects of working with Brent and Josh, is knowing that they truly value the importance of sourcing locally."

Ridge and Kilmer-Purcell set their eyes on Corning's Gaffer District as a potential Beekman 1802 location after speaking with local small business owners during a 2014 visit to the Corning Museum of Glass.

Previous Beekman 1802 Summer Outposts were located in Cooperstown and Manhattan. The flagship store, in Sharon Springs, also sells products globally with partners such as Anthropologie, Williams-Sonoma and Bloomingdales.
