Apr 04th, 2013

Spring Sessions Kick Off on Wednesday, April 10

SKANEATELES, N.Y. - April 3, 2013 - Mirbeau Inn & Spa is opening its kitchen to hotel guests and local residents with cooking instruction classes led by its team of culinary pros. Participants will have the opportunity to learn how to prepare mouthwatering, farm-to-table dishes and cap off the evening with a communal dinner and wine tasting experience.

Guests can choose from a diverse lineup of classes, with themes ranging from sushi making to cooking with beer, crafting chocolates and mastering the grill. Each class offers insight to help bring home a taste of Mirbeau’s authentic culinary flare.

Participants have the option to attend class at 5:45 p.m. and stay for dinner at 7:15 p.m. Classes are priced at $25 per person including taxes and gratuities, class supplies (if interactive), and one glass of wine. Class plus dinner is priced at $100 per person and also includes wine pairings with the meal.

Cooking Class Schedule

Wednesdays and Thursday, 5:45 p.m.; 7:15 p.m. dinner

April 10 & April 11: That’s Amore!

Guests can channel that inner Italian by attending a class dedicated to lessons on how to master the perfect pasta, antipasti, and Italian variations on the chicken breast dishes.

April 24 & April 25: Sushi Fun!

No need to order out! Guests learn to make sushi by incorporating skills in rolling sushi and tips on how to make Nigiri.

May 8 & May 9: Everybody loves Chocolate!

Mirbeau Pastry Chef Tiffany Youngman will teach a class encompassing all things dark chocolate, including truffles, special centers, learning to use chocolate molds and making  specialty items such as cocoa butter designs.

May 22 & May 23: Grilling Mastery

This summer guests will be well-prepared to host the best barbecue possible by learning restaurant techniques that will teach grilling beyond just hamburgers and hot dogs.

June 5 & June 6: Breads: Going Beyond the Basics

Aside from the most popular -- breakfast and specialty doughs -- Pastry Chef Tiffany Youngman will expand participants’ bread knowledge with a continuation class to learn about bagels, cinnamon buns, pretzels and more.

June 19 & June 20: Cooking in the Raw

Not every cooking class has to include cooking! For this class, guests will learn about raw food and the interesting ways to enjoy it using local produce whenever possible. Of course, Ranch dressing will be provided upon request.

July 17 & July 18: Say Cheese!

Who knew there’s so much to know about cheese? This “cheese-informational” class includes a tasting and a chance to make fresh mozzarella!

Aug. 21 & Aug. 22: Be your own Cake Boss

Pastry Chef Tiffany Youngman will walk guests through the essentials of cake decorating with butter cream, frosting flowers, borders and writing, preparing them to be “cake-boss ready” in no time!

Sept. 18 & Sept. 19: Back to School

Between homework, housework and everything in between, there are barely enough hours in the day to prepare a proper dinner. This class aims to enhance family meals for those who may have not had one-on-one kitchen training from Mom or Grandma.

For class reservations, please call (315) 685-1927. Cancelations must be made at least 24 hours prior to class. Any cancellations within 24 hours or no-shows will be charged a $25 cancellation fee per person.
