Montezuma Winery Breaks Ground on New Tasting Room Expansion

Mar 16th, 2023

Over 20 years ago, the Martin family first laid the foundation of Montezuma Winery at its current location in Seneca Falls, NY. Little did they know that their small family business, which first began out of their garage in Sterling, NY, would grow into what it is today. They now produce a variety of wines as well as distilled spirits from their brand, Hidden Marsh Distillery. As their portfolio and tasting room experience continues to grow and evolve, their tasting room space must now grow as well.

The Martin family is excited to announce that they have begun construction on a new tasting room addition with the help of local suppliers and contractors. Expected to be completed by this Fall, this new addition will bring an extra 5,700+ square feet to their existing tasting room.

“We are very excited to be adding this 5,700+ square foot addition to our tasting room” says Co-Owner, Bill Martin. “When we purchased the land in 2001, it was just a scrub brush lot. My family and I are truly proud of what we have built and want to thank our customers and community for supporting us throughout the years. Since the pandemic, our tasting room and the customer experience has really evolved and we are happy to be able to accommodate that with our new space.”

The addition will provide space for an extended tasting bar, indoor seating and a separate space to accommodate larger groups. They will also begin offering food options including freshly baked bread and soft pretzels in addition to their selection of local cheese and small snacks. For the Spring of 2024, they plan to add an outdoor courtyard to the back of the building for visitors to enjoy outdoor seating.

Montezuma Winery & Hidden Marsh Distillery will remain open during the months of construction with the expected completion date of Fall 2023. The tasting room is open daily 9am-6pm with the tasting bar closing at 5:45pm. The Martin family invites visitors to stop in to see the progress and of course, enjoy some wine!
