Open Face now serving at the George Eastman Museum

Jan 28th, 2021

Rochester, N.Y., January 28, 2021—Open Face Sandwich Eatery, formerly located on South Avenue in Rochester and closed since 2017, has reopened at the George Eastman Museum as Open Face at Eastman Museum. Dine-in or takeout are now available.

Founded by Jared Valentine and a partner in 2004, Open Face featured signature sandwiches, soups, salads, sides, and baked goods. At the Eastman Museum, Open Face offers similar fare, including numerous vegan or vegetarian sandwiches, such as corn mash, mashed pea, chickpea, and toasted brie. Sandwiches can also be made over field greens as salads. Craved specialties—including ginger carrots, pickled beets, and baguette chips—are also on the menu. Desserts include Open Face cookie splits and cookie sandwiches, Cheesy Eddie’s carrot cake, and Red Fern vegan jam bars. Open Face will serve Royal Café gelato, which has been a longtime favorite of museum visitors, and feature New City coffee. Select mashes, soups, and sides are also available in pint and quart sizes to take home.

“When I took the position as director of the George Eastman Museum in 2012, I sought recommendations of the best places to eat in Rochester, and one of the suggestions was Open Face, an unassuming and perennially hip sandwich shop in the South Wedge,” said Bruce Barnes, Ron and Donna Fielding Director, George Eastman Museum. “It immediately became my favorite place for lunch. As we planned our new café, I approached Jared about reviving his vision for Open Face in the beautiful new space at the Eastman Museum. We are most fortunate that our proposed collaboration captured his imagination.”

Open Face at Eastman Museum is offering its full menu for dine-in, with parties currently limited to four per table and tables socially distanced, as well as takeout or curbside pickup. Follow Open Face on Instagram (@openfacefoods) and Facebook (@openfacefoods) for specials and menu updates.
