Apr 17th, 2023

The National Women’s Hall of Fame and The Century Club of Rochester will host an evening of conversation and networking with Kilbourne

ROCHESTER, NY: The National Women’s Hall of Fame (the Hall) and The Century Club of Rochester (The Century Club) are partnering for an event featuring internationally recognized activist and speaker Jean Kilbourne. Kilbourne was inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame in 2015 and is celebrated for her groundbreaking work in media literacy.

“Jean’s extraordinary life’s work has been dedicated to exploring the connections between advertising and its impact on society, especially women,” said Hall executive director Jennifer Gabriel. “We are thrilled to partner with The Century Club of Rochester for a special evening that promises thoughtful and inspiring dialogue about the portrayal of women in media.”

Kilbourne’s work has transformed the way organizations around the world address public health problems, including smoking, high-risk drinking, obesity, and the sexualization of children. In January 2023, she became the first Inductee of the National Women’s Hall of Fame to serve as President of its Board of Directors.

“The Century Club is pleased to partner with the National Women’s Hall of Fame to bring Jean Kilbourne, 2015 Inductee, to Rochester,” said Kathy Nixon, president of The Century Club of Rochester. “As a women’s social organization, The Century Club nurtures friendship, champions our members’ personal and professional growth, provides a wide range of programs designed to entertain and educate, and strives to improve the lives of others by supporting charitable causes.”
