Syracuse, NY (August 4, 2016) – The National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors (NAWCC) 47rd Annual Eastern States Regional (ESR) is returning to Syracuse. Thousands of antique and vintage clocks, watches, repair tools and horological items will be on display.
- Date: Friday, August 12th and Saturday, August 13th
- Location: Holiday Inn in Syracuse, NY (441 Electronics Parkway, Liverpool, NY)
- Registration: Registration is from 8 AM to 5 PM on Friday, and from 8 AM to 2 PM on Saturday. Three-month NAWCC memberships are available for the public and discounted three-month memberships are available to students. The Special Exhibit and the MART, whichprovide an outstanding opportunity to buy and sell horological items, build your collection, acquire books or obtain tools and parts for repairs, starts on Friday. Additionally, Friday evening features an Auction, which will be open to all members of the public. On Saturday, bring your watch or clock to hands-on workshops and have it assessed for its provenance and overall condition and learn about repair techniques.
Many of the workshops will focus on repairs and upkeep that can be performed with limited horological experience and common tools. So bring that family heirloom that’s been sitting on your mantel or hanging on your wall to the event and learn more about it, or better yet, learn how to repair the movement or case.
The Special Exhibit will showcase rare Pennsylvania shelf and bracket clocks. The Exhibit will tell the story of the highly skilled and historically significant, but lesser-known Pennsylvania shelf and bracket clock makers in the period from 1750-1850. Unlike many of the Connecticut clockmakers of the same time period, these clockmakers did not produce clocks in large numbers. The exhibit is open from 11 AM to 5 PM on Friday, with a lecture at 1 PM, and on Saturday from 9 AM to 2 PM. Do not to miss this opportunity to view these rare clocks if you are a collector, antiques dealer or historian, or simply interested in rare clocks.
