They’re armed, but not dangerous.
Pirates are once again on the loose and set to attack Mid-Lakes Navigation cruises Aug. 14, during the fifth annual Pirate Day. Cruises on Skaneateles Lake are advised to be on the lookout for takeovers, treasure heists and tons of water play.
“Pirate Day is an event we all look forward to,” says Mid-Lakes co-owner Sarah Wiles. “Passengers, crewmembers, friends—we all have a ball!”
Continuing his antics from past years, Capt. Jack, who describes himself as a “goofy, crazy, fun-loving pirate,” will make a return appearance. “He’s great with the kids and makes a perfect host,” says Wiles.
Children are invited to dress in costume and join Capt. Jack’s pirate parade throughout the boat.
To enable everyone to get in on the fun, pirate mugs, bandanas, eye patches, skull rings, earrings and swords will be for sale, and children will receive a free tattoo, trinket and pirate hat. A pirate menu will be available on the lunch cruise, which is sold out, and pirate drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) will be offered on all cruises.

• Capt. Hat’s Mighty Sights (sightseeing cruises) – 2, 3 and 5 p.m. $12 adults; $8 children.
• Pirate Dinner Cruise – 6-9 p.m. $50 adults; $40 children. Reservations required.
• Take-Out Cruise – 6:30-8 p.m. $16 adults; $10 children.
