Simmons-Rockwell Auto Dealerships Continue as GlassFest’s Rock The Park Title Sponsor

Feb 23rd, 2018

Corning, NY—Corning’s Gaffer District and GlassFest presenting sponsor Chemung Canal Trust Company are pleased to announce the continued commitment of Simmons-Rockwell Auto Dealerships as the 2018 Rock The Park title sponsor.

Corning’s Gaffer District and Simmons-Rockwell officials are proud to announce that this year’s Rock The Park concert series will again feature a three-day schedule, including a special Memorial Day Tribute on Sunday afternoon in Riverfront Park. Beginning Friday, May 25, Rock The Park is a free concert series in Riverfront Centennial Park, in association with GlassFest, a four-day celebration of glass and the fire arts in Downtown Corning.

In its ninth year, GlassFest has received rave reviews from area residents, regional visitors and glass artists, collectors and enthusiasts that have traveled from around the country to celebrate Corning’s rich glass heritage. A major highlight of the event weekend is the Rock The Park concert series in Riverfront Centennial Park on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, which also includes special activities, fireworks and more.

This year, DSB returns not only for Saturday night when they perform all the favorite Journey hits, but the same members will perform on Friday night as DSB Detour. Friday's performance will include hits from AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Night Ranger, Metallica, Loverboy, Foreigner, Toto and many more. Two nights from the crowd's favorite band! Sunday afternoon features rising country artist Tony Jackson whose rendition of George Jones "The Grand Tour" garnered 22 million views on Facebook in just 21 hours. Sunday's openers will be Quentin Harriger, Ayla Brown & Rob Bellamy, fan favorites in this area from their past performances and Rob's tenure as an Elmira Jackal. Ayla sang the National Anthem at the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea and is known for her debut on Season 5 of American Idol.

“Rock The Park continues to be one of the most anticipated GlassFest experiences, people of all ages fill the park to dance, sing along and enjoy great music in a beautiful riverside setting,” added Coleen Fabrizi, Executive Director of Corning’s Gaffer District. “Friday and Saturday night are high energy fun with a finale of fireworks on Saturday, and on Sunday we pay tribute to our fallen soldiers with a blend of patriotic and popular hit songs. The Rock The Park concerts and activities are free and a wonderful part of the GlassFest experience.”

The ninth annual GlassFest will kick off with the celebrated Glass Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the Corning Museum of Glass at 5:30 pm on Thursday, May 24. For a complete listing of GlassFest’s scheduled entertainment and updated information regarding Rock The Park, please visit www.GlassFest.org.
