Geneva, N.Y. Encounter the spirits of Geneva's past in guided tours this fall at historic Washington Street Cemetery. Explore the stories humble and tragic of those who once called Geneva home at From Beyond: Washington Street Cemetery Stories, a program of the Geneva Historical Society and Founder's Square Neighborhood Association.
On Friday, October 14 at 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, October 15 at 1, 2, and 3 p.m. Geneva Historical Society staff will lead groups through the cemetery and tell the stories of a some of the community's early residents. There will be stories of the first graduate of West Point and an early children's book author, but also the tales of more ordinary Genevans, like the early African-American residents of the village and several tragic but ordinary lives lost in the 19th century.
From Beyond tours will begin at the Washington Street entrance to the cemetery and last approximately one hour. Those attending are encouraged to dress for the weather and be prepared to walk 4/10ths of a mile on uneven ground.
Tickets are $5 per person and $15 for a family group (two adults and children). Reservations are strongly encouraged for all tours as space is limited.
