Summer In Downtown Corning Events in August

There is still plenty of time to enjoy summer in Downtown Corning, and you're invited to come experience the food, art, education, and fun this wonderful town has to offer! Corning's Gaffer District and WETM-18 present the Summer in Downtown Corning lineup for August. Awarded the 2015 TripAdvisor Certificate Of Excellence, Corning's Gaffer District is sure to offer a little something for the whole family.

"We are proud to partner with Corning's Gaffer District to offer wonderful live entertainment throughout the summer, and one of the area's finest farmers' markets. Storytime in the Square is a treasure for promoting reading for children. Corning's Gaffer District has done an amazing job in making this a magical place for area residents to enjoy with their families", says Marci Daniels, Vice President and General Manager of WETM-18.

Coleen Fabrizi, Executive Director of Corning's Gaffer District says, "From fascinating museums and galleries, to beautiful streets and historic buildings, to a wide array of restaurants and boutiques, there's something here for everyone. Beyond the daily charms of Downtown Corning, there are also a number of exciting events to attend throughout the summer!"

Summer happenings in August include:

  • Music in the Square from 7pm on Thursdays
    Free outdoor concerts in Centerway Square featuring music from local, regional, and national performers. Check gafferdistrict.com/events for other Music In The Square events.
    August 13 - Virgil Cain
    August 27 - Rust
    September 3 - The Hepcats
  • Corning Farmers Market from 10am–3pm, every Thursday through October 29
    Over 25 local vendors gather in Riverfront Centennial Park to offer the freshest and finest goods and produce the region has to offer!
  • Storytime in the Square at 10am on August 11 & 25
    Sponsored by Imagine That! Toy Store, guest readers from around the area bring children's books to life in Centerway Square.

While you're enjoying all that Downtown Corning has to offer, don't forget to take a look at the Hometown Heroes banners. Sponsored by family and friends, these banners honor those who have served or are currently serving in the United States military. There are currently 160 banners hung up along Market, Bridge, and Pulteney streets, as well as Centerway and the Brisco Bridge.
