Swedish Hill Winery's 2010 Late Harvest Vignoles Wins It's 12th Gold Metal

May 17th, 2013

Swedish Hill Winery is proud to announce the addition of six Gold Medals from two recent wine competitions, the Riverside International and the Tasters Guild, with the 2010 Late Harvest Vignoles shining at both. Now totaling twelve Gold Medals, the 2010 Late Harvest Vignoles has become one of the most award-winning wines of the Finger Lakes.

This was the 32nd annual Riverside International Wine Competition held in Temecula, California on May 9th through the 11th. In 2012 this prestigious competition named Swedish Hill as winner of the trophy for "Winery of the Year." This year Swedish Hill won two "Best of Class" awards for the 2010 Late Harvest Vignoles and for the Raspberry Infusion, a Gold Medal for their 2011 Riesling making it this vintage's seventh, in addition to four Silver and four Bronze Medals.

The Tasters Guild consists of 30 active chapters across the country that link consumers, wine, food, and the service industries together. They held their annual International Wine Competition in Michigan from May 1st to the 4th, where Swedish Hill claimed a Gold Medal for the 2011 Cabernet Franc-Lemberger and two Double Gold Medals for the 2010 Vignoles Late Harvest and the 2011 Vidal Blanc, this vintage's seventh.

These latest medals have brought the total Gold Medal count for the 2010 Vignoles Late Harvest to 12, which includes a Jefferson Cup, a "Best of Show Dessert Wine" from the Monterey Wine Competition, and three additional "Best of Class" awards, all from International Competitions from California. This luscious dessert wine has been one of Swedish Hill's fruitiest late harvest wines to date, harvested at a 34.8 Brix and finished with 17% residual sugar.

Swedish Hill Owner & CEO Dave Peterson discussed the successful history of this grape for Swedish Hill and stated that "the 2010 Vignoles Late Harvest has had an amazing run in recent competitions across the country. Our Vignoles vineyard is one of the older plantings of this grape, planted in 1973. In fact it was our first vintage in 1985 that won our first Gold Medal for Swedish Hill Winery. To date we've continued to succeed at competitions, winning 61 Golds in 2012, and have consistently upheld a reputation as one of the most award-winning wineries of the Finger Lakes."

Owned and Operated by the Peterson Family, Swedish Hill Winery is located at 4565 State Route 414 on the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail with two additional satellite tasting rooms in Saratoga Springs and Lake Placid. For a complete listing of awards visit www.SwedishHill.com/awards-and-medals.
