Talk to the Living Among the Dead in Tioga County

Owego, NY -- Tioga County Historical Museum will host the “Living Among the Dead”

 

 Program at Evergreen Cemetery.  Spirits will come alive at Owego's Evergreen Cemetery on Saturday, October 5th!

From 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, the Tioga County Historical Society will host the second annual cemetery walk telling the stories of people from this area’s past and the history of Evergreen Cemetery. This unique tour will include living history reenactors portraying members of the county’s past. Featured this year are: renowned naturalist J. Alden (Todd) Loring; US Senator and Representative Tom Platt; local philanthropist and former TCHS Director Mildred Faulkner Truman; and Ida and Minnie Wade, sisters who established funds used to erect the TCHS Museum.

Tours will last between 1 1/2 to 2 hours each. Guests will meet at the TCHS Museum at 110 Front Street and a shuttle will transport them to Evergreen Cemetery for a guided tour. Be prepared for the weather as the tour will continue rain or shine. Good walking shoes are a must. Reservations for this event are encouraged due to the popularity of this event. This event is not intended to be frightening and all ages are welcome.

Prices for the tour are as follows: $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under, $8 for seniors 62+, and $30 for a family of 4 or more. Reservations can be made at the TCHS Museum at 607-687-2460 and will be accepted until October 2. All sales are final and there will be no refunds. Tickets will be available the day of the event.

Participants are eligible to receive one complimentary dessert at the Parkview Restaurant. For details, contact the museum. TCHS thanks the Parkview for their gracious support!

TCHS is located at 110 Front Street in historic Owego. Normal hours are 10am to 4pm Wednesday through Saturday.
