Thanksgiving Break Activities at the Corning Museum of Glass

CORNING, NY—The Corning Museum of Glass will feature Thanksgiving Break Activities for the whole family November 29-December 1, 2013.

Visitors can enjoy the special exhibitions Life on a String: 35 Centuries of the Glass Bead (open through January 5, 2014), and Masters of Studio Glass: Richard Marquis (open through February 2, 2014).

Discounts of up to 80% will be offered throughout the GlassMarket at the After-Thanksgiving Sale, from November 29 to December 1, including handmade jewelry, decorative ornaments, housewares, gifts for kids, and much more. The store opens at 7:00 a.m. on Friday and 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Museum admission is not required to shop at the GlassMarket.

Expert glassmakers will transform molten glass into beautiful objects at the live, narrated Hot Glass Shows and there will also be educational Flameworking and Glassbreaking Demos on view. Demos take place all day, every day.

The Make Your Own Glass workshop features several seasonal projects this weekend in addition to its regular offering. Make Your Own Glass Pumpkin ($29, all ages) or Snowman ($29, all ages).

Adult admission for area residents is $6; area residents may also bring two additional guests in at this discounted rate. Admission is free for children and teens 19 and under.
