See Rose Hill Mansion by Candlelight
Geneva, N.Y.: On Saturday, November 5, 2022, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Historic Geneva will open Rose Hill Mansion to visitors for self-guided tours after dark. They will have the chance to experience the house as the Swan family and their servants would have at night, in (electric) candlelight and at their own pace. The first floor of the mansion and four bedrooms on the second floor will be open. Visitors can linger in their favorite rooms. Tour guides will be stationed throughout the house to answer visitor questions. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the last entry is at 8 p.m.
The Carriage House Gift Shop will also be open for the event. Admission is $10 per person and $8 for Historic Geneva Supporters. Tickets can be purchased in advance at historicgeneva.org or at the door the night of the event. Visitors should also bring a flashlight. Once a working farm, the house and surrounding grounds at Rose Hill are open May to October for guided tours. Built in 1839, the elegant Greek Revival house was the center of a busy and productive farm at mid-century, occupied by the Swan family from 1850-1890. Twenty rooms of the house are restored and furnished in the Empire style, popular from the 1820s to 1850s.
Rose Hill Mansion is located at 3373 Route 96A, about a mile south of Routes 5&20, near Geneva, New York.
