Watkins Glen, NY – The Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce will celebrate travel and tourism in Schuyler County with the Schuyler Summit in honor of National Travel and Tourism Week on May 5, 2016.

National Travel and Tourism Week—America's annual salute to travel and tourism—was established by a congressional resolution in 1983. This week of events serves to champion the power of the travel and tourism industry. Travel and tourism professionals from across the nation work throughout the week to promote the impactful contributions their travel markets and organizations make to the U.S. economy. The travel community marks the event in a number of creative ways, from staging local rallies and conducting media outreach to securing proclamations and resolutions from local governments.
The Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce will offer several informative seminars as part of an entire day of programming. Seminar timing and topics include:
- 8:30 – 9:30am: Best Practices for Trip Advisor presented by Brittany Gibbs, Tourism & Marketing Manager of the Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce
- 9:45 – 10:45am: Hiring Summer Staff presented by Peter Honsberger, Owner of The Great Escape & Everything Ice Cream
- 11:00am – 12:15pm: Best Practices for Social Media presented by Brittany Gibbs, Tourism & Marketing Manager of the Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce
- 1:15 – 2:15pm: Chamber Membership 101 for Tourism-Based Membership presented by President/CEO Rebekah LaMoreaux and Membership Services Manager Meredith Williams of the Watkins Glen Chamber of Commerce
Members and non-members alike are invited to attend one seminar, two seminars, or the entire day of programming! Members may attend the Schuyler Summit at no charge. There is a $5 fee per member per seminar, plus a $5 fee for lunch. A light lunch will be provided and the event will culminate in a celebratory toast and cake at 2:30pm.
