Watkins Glen International RACE Foundation Opens Grant Request Program

Oct 11th, 2016

The Watkins Glen International RACE (Racing and Community Enrichment) Foundation, a donor-advised fund of the NASCAR Foundation, raised over $30,000 in 2016 through various fundraising efforts with the help of committed fans and supporters of the historic circuit.

Now, it’s time to give back to the local community to the tune of $15,000 with three levels of grants.

As part of the organization’s mission, Watkins Glen International and RACE will invest back into the community with grants of varying sizes, designed to further the efforts of local youth oriented non-profit foundations in Chemung, Yates, Schuyler, and Steuben counties.

This week, information and applications for the various grants were posted at www.theglen.com/RACE. All applications must be received by Tuesday, November 8th.

“To raise over $30,000 in the foundation’s first year is a great thing,” said Watkins Glen International President Michael Printup. “Now, with these grants and programs available, it’s time to put that money back into our local community and do what RACE was created to do.”

Qualifying organizations must be a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization in good standing with the Internal Revenue Service serving children in Chemung, Steuben, Yates, and/or Schuyler counties in the State of New York and ensure that 100% of grant monies received from the RACE Foundation are used for the exclusive benefit of children, along with other requirements.

RACE was created to meet the needs of local underserved populations with a focus on youth-oriented support. The foundation utilizes the backing of a close-knit community to foster meaningful fundraising efforts, as well as lean on support from the international racing family.
