New York squad posted 24-0 summer record, earned World Championship with victory over South Korea
Watkins Glen International will recognize the newly crowned Little League World Series champion Maine-Endwell baseball team on Sunday, September 4th at the INDYCAR Grand Prix at The Glen, with players and coaches set to serve as Grand Marshals during pre-race ceremonies.
A sparkling 24-0 season record was capped by five Little League World Series wins – the final being a 2-1 victory over South Korea – making Maine-Endwell the first New York team to win the overall title in iconic Williamsport, Pennsylvania, since 1964. Equally as impressive, the squad received the Jack Losch Little League World Series Team Sportsmanship Award, an honor voted on by peers at the tournament.
“We are so proud of Maine-Endwell for their performance, both on the field and off, all season and in Williamsport,” said Watkins Glen International President Michael Printup. “Our team is thrilled to have the opportunity to host the World Champions of Little League Baseball and their families while introducing them to some of the best racing in the world, right here in Watkins Glen.”
